We are a week into the New Year and how many of us have slotted into the same routine? A New Year is a good time to make any changes to your practice.

Over the weekend, think back over the last 12 months and evaluate where you could have gained more clients, earned more money or added value to your practice.

Here are my suggestions for areas to review:

Marketing

How much time and money went into marketing for your practice last year? Is your website getting optimum views and bringing in a steady stream of new clients. Is your branding consistent throughout the practice? Even the smallest details will be recognised and remembered by your patients, which can lead to referrals to family and friends. Making changes in these areas could really boost the practice’s earnings for the year ahead.

Software

Take a look at your current software, is it up to date? Could it be improved? Having sufficient software that makes booking appointments, managing accounts, and taking payments quicker and simpler is a thing of pure genius. Using such program’s as Xero for bookkeeping and Insightly for office management and administration can make the running of your dental practice a smooth process. Here at Hive, we use both of these systems along with many more types of software to minimise our workload.

Staff

Your team are one of the most important parts of your practice, having them run like a well-oiled machine can not only ensure your patients are getting the best services possible in the most cost-effective way but enhance the value of your brand. Taking the time to train, engage with and thank your staff will go such a long way. Making for a happy friendly environment for yourself and your patients.

Services

Review which services you offer and then decide if they still suit your practice. Remind your patients of the services you have to offer as they may not be aware of them all. Hygienist appointments, teeth whitening, facial aesthetic work; whichever you offer, make sure your patients are aware. Mentioning such services may give patients an option they didn’t realise they had or the confidence to ask about other services they may have been interested in.

Pricing

Take a look at Luc’s blog on pricing. The New Year is the optimum time to review your pricing and amend accordingly.

There is always room for growth and improvement in your business and we can help you with all areas of your business.
