Facebook will now: “use ranking to order stories based on how interesting we believe they are to you: specifically, whom you tend to interact with, and what kinds of content you tend to like and comment on.” Read the full Facebook update here.

With these updates to the News Feed preferences page, users will now be able to:

  1. Select which specific friends and Pages they want to see first in their News Feeds.
  2. Select which friends and Pages they want to follow and unfollow.
  3. Discover new Pages based on content they’ve interacted with in the past.

What this means for your business.

It is challenging to get people to interact with your Facebook page and to engage your audience. With this update, it may mean that people choose to unfollow you or decide not to get your updates in their News Feed. It is more important than ever that you are posting the right things on your page at a suitable frequency for your followers.

We recommend that you carefully consider the type of posts you are currently sharing and be careful not to bombard your followers. Once you’ve got your Facebook content mastered, encourage your followers to add your page to their “See First” section so that they don’t miss out (if you love reading all about Hive Business, we suggest you add us to the “See First” section too ;-)).
