1 Your relationship status
This determines which allowances apply to your estate.
Your estate uses a single Nil-Rate Band (£325,000) and Residence Nil-Rate Band (£175,000).
This calculator estimates IHT on second death — typically when IHT becomes payable. Married couples can combine allowances, up to £1,000,000 combined threshold.
If your late spouse did not use their Nil-Rate Band, you may be able to claim a transferred allowance.
2 Properties
Add each property you own. The net value (after mortgage) is used in your estate. Your main residence may qualify for the Residence Nil-Rate Band.
3 Dental practice / business interests i
Business Property Relief (BPR) automatically applies. 100% relief up to £2.5m (£5m for couples), 50% above that.
