There are roughly 1,400 specialist orthodontists in the UK. There are around 285 specialist paediatric dentists. Plenty of GDPs have upskilled in ortho over the last decade. Far fewer have done the same for children. That leaves a real gap in care, and an opportunity for the practices willing to fill it properly.
At Hive we act for around 400 dentists across the UK. Many of them are looking for new revenue streams that are actually profitable, not just busy. Paediatric dentistry has quietly become one of the most interesting answers we’ve seen this year. Some of our clients who’ve added it are already generating serious revenue from a service that’s still fairly new to the market.
That’s why I’m backing Dr Libi Al-Muzian’s paediatric course with Identiti. Libi is a specialist paediatric dentist with 20+ years’ experience, and her clinic is shortlisted for Practice of the Year in Scotland again. The course is practical, minimally invasive and built around how children are actually treated in clinic, not how a textbook says they should be.
It runs over 10–12 months, roughly two days every two months, so you’re not giving up much clinical time. You can bring your therapist, nurse or TCO, and there’s an option to shadow Libi’s team in clinic.
A child who has a good experience at the dentist tends to stay with that practice for life. That’s good dentistry and good business.
